Colony our DAO platform

Why Colony?

We decided to use Colony as our underlying platform for our DAO.

Colony has some great functionalities that align with our original vision:

• Optimistic or lazy consensus. We want to preserve all the benefits of a DAO and we need to have the agility of a young startup.

• Governance driven by a skill-based reputation system. We didn't want a capital-driven oligarchy. Also, the Reputation decay over time, meaning that the DAO members should continue to contribute to keeping their influence in the Colony.

• Subteam system approach built-in. It is possible to design an articulated organization using subteams from day one (the structure might remember that one of sub DAOs).

• Rather simple technical implementation.

This decision was not a walk in the park. We studied all the most developed DAO platforms. We even participated in some betas to access the most advanced new functionalities. No DAO platform was a perfect fit for our business and users' requirements, but we can say that Colony is the best approximation of our original plan.

After two months spent modeling several Colonies we were able to structure the foundational processes that we would have in place at the start of our Genesis Colony!
